The Most Dangerous Game

Post  SugaredKittie on Thu Jun 16, 2011 2:11 pm

Welcome to the world's Most Dangerous Game; hunting humans. And not just any kind of human, humans with powers.

Originally all humans who showed any signs of having some type of power were placed into camps where they were forced into collars that would permanently remove all chances of using said power/ability. The people in the camps lived in relative peace. Their lives weren't too hard and the guards of their camps usually left them alone, but they were never allowed to leave. In modern day planet earth most humans that have powers/abilities live in very rural or medieval environments, living by the plow, sowing their own clothing from what little material they are given to work with; no one is allowed to learn any type of fighting and because of the carefully balanced peace, no one wants to.

Outside of their little camps something extreme happened. While most normal humans and their governments were sure they had captured all people with strange powers there was one they had missed; a man with the Chaos ability. Chaos is not an ability that can be controlled and so, as the man's power grew, the man's will began to deteriorate. Finally, he lost the battle against his power and went completely insane. His plan was simple, destroy everything, and while he very nearly did the governments of the world banded together and destroyed him.

Now 1/3 the population of the world is gone and everyone left is looking at the people in the camps with hatred and fear. So one day after the incident, under the cover of darkness and powerful sedatives, the governments of the world collected all the people from the camps and shipped them to a man made island that had been apart of previous secret testings.

Th Island is located between South Africa and Australia. Smack dab in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and the only visible land mass is Antarctica . It was once an island built to test the affects of leaving an advanced civilization alone. A modern city was built on a man made island, filled with people and left to it's own devices without any help from anyone. While they were watched closely from satellites they were not given any supplies but the ones they started with. The City survived for sometime before the goods produced could not meet the demands needed by over population. The city failed and the entire population eventually died out. Now it's left to ruin, only the government actually knowing where it was located, until it's brought back into use.

Within months after the destruction that took place during the man's rampage the island was retrofitted, technology was upgraded and plans were set into motion. They were going to kill all the humans with powers by the use of armed forces. A type of combat training, for the off chance that anyone else with powers are born.

This is where you come in.

You awaken to find yourself in an abandoned city with all those from your camp with you. Your collar is gone but in it's place you find an ankle bracelet. Disoriented you have a moment of jubilation to see you are not in the camp and extreme fear because you have no idea where you are. Someone near you exclaims excitedly, he's about to use his technopathy for the first time and release the bracelet for his ankle. You're hopeful, if he can get his off obviously he can get everyone's off; but something happens. The moment he begins to tamper with the bracelet it beeps and then explodes; nothing is left of the technopath. In horror someone with flight decides they will just fly out of the city. They have just enough time to shout back that you are all on an island before something connects with them and they too are killed. Fear ripples through the people on the ground and someone with super speed takes off in a panic; you can hear the gunshots as he is shot to death. There's a silence before someone with the power of invisibility wonders if they can try, if they're invisible the guns can't see them so you all wait, and wait... and wait... and finally... Guns ring out and you know he failed.

People are in a panic, as someone takes control of the situation. "We are on an island." He yells as he gets everyone's attention. "That much we know. We also know we cannot tamper with our anklets or fly off the island. We can assume if we go a certain distance outside of this city or maybe even the surrounding wild life we will be shot down. I think the ankles track our movement and those guns are set to shoot when we're at a certain distance, I don't even think that anyone is even on the ends of those guns I'm sure they're automatic turrets. My conclusion is that we're left here to either kill each other off, or worse. To be hunted. We need to work together. We need to get strong with our powers. We need to know how to fight. We need to survive. It's up to all of you if you want to work together but I bet if we start fighting amongst ourselves that will be playing right into their hands and I for one want to survive."

Now it's your choice. Will you band together and fight? Or will you let yourself be controlled by their plan?

Your Choice for Physical Power

Post  SugaredKittie on Thu Jun 16, 2011 3:00 pm

Powers are limited to ONLY the ones on these three lists. You get to pick two, one from mental and one from physical. The third list is of powers that work in both categories, if you pick one of those you DO NOT get any other powers. You also have to run them BY ME. If you do not and I do not approve of the pairing I will delete your character. You are NOT super strong. You will barely be able to control your ability when this RP starts. You are also not super strong, you are not trained to fight. As many would say you are a "noob", a "green horn". If you want your ability to be extremely strong you will need to train and you cannot do this in one post; i.e. "so and so sits there for four hours practicing their powers". It does not work that way. You are being hunted, you will need to eat, you will need to find shelter. You will not have the time to sit and meditate. Training will come in down times, or in times where you have no choice but to use your power.

I'm sorry if this seems harsh but After what happened in Prithvizemli I am limiting many things. This lists below will include the power (there will be absolutely no duplicates which is also why you need to run them by me), it's limit now and it's possible max potential.

You're at war here. Some of these powers are quite useful. So if you don't see your power do not get angry, there are 15 in each category and some of them are quite interesting even if you don't think so at this moment.

Physical Powers and Abilities

Earth UNAVILABLE(J) - Beginning Limits: You cannot move mountains, you cannot cause earthquakes. Potential Max: You cannot move the island, You can cause fissures but no massive earthquakes. You can move mounds of earth and possible boulders.

Fire UNAVAILABLE (K) - Beginning Limits: Your emotions will escalate and make you lose control. You cannot make wildfires or narrow your stream of attack. Max Limit/Potential: Narrowed stream of attack. Your emotions will still cause massive fires. You have more control of your emotions. You can create potentially larger fires.

Wind UNAVAILABLE (K) - Beginning Limits: You cannot create tornadoes. You cannot create hurricanes. You may be able to create slicing winds but they are not massive. Max Potential/Limits: No Hurricanes. No massive tornadoes. You can create cutting winds.

Water UNAVAILABLE (C) - You cannot summon large amounts of water. You cannot hold someone under long enough to drown them, may be able to knock them unconscious. Max Potential/Limit: You can summon larger amounts of drinkable water. You may be able to kill someone with drowning but not often.

Wood UNAVILABLE - Limits: You cannot make an entire forest move or cause something to grow massively large. You cannot make large plant based attacks. Max potential/limit: Growing some plants not massive trees. You cannot move entire forests. You can create larger plant based attacks.

Enhanced Senses UNAVAILABLE (S) - Limits: You cannot see, smell, hear to the end of the island. You can see at night, you can see up to 2 miles during the day. You can hear near-by enemies at small distance, roughly 2 miles away. You can smell just a few more things than the average human. Your reflexes are slightly better. Max Potential/limit. You can see further at night. You can see up to 4 miles during the day. You can hear up for 4 miles away though you may get distracted by other noises and may miss the threat at that distance. You can smell twice as much as the average human, You may have the chance to dodge close range weapons. you cannot dodge bullets.

Shapeshifting ON HOLD - Limits: You cannot change your entire form. You cannot change into animals. You cannot change your clothing. You cannot hold it for long. Max Potential/limit: You can Change your entire form but not for an extremely long period of time. You cannot turn into animals you cannot create clothing with the new form.

Kenetic Absorption UNAVAILABLE (D) - Limits: You cannot continuously absorb energy. You may be able to absorb a bullet hit but not 20. You can release that small amount of energy back. Max Potential/limit: You can absorb energy for a set amount of time. The more hits you take the shorter the time period. You can release it back as well. You cannot stop your own aging.

Levitation - Limits: You can hover for a very short amount of time. You cannot raise more then a few inches to a foot or so off the ground. You cannot levitate others with you. Max Potential/Limits: You can hover several feet off the ground. You can co longer distances. You can hover for a longer period of time, if you try to carry someone, you can, but that time is shortened immensely.

Bullet Speed UNAVAILABLE (B) - Limits: Your speed can vary, you are not always be faster than a bullet. It's not completely controllable at this stage. You also cannot do this for a prolonged period of time so if there are several people shooting at you you cannot dodge them all. Max Potential/Limit: You can hold the speed for longer periods of time but the more bullets you try to dodge, the more energy you expend, the less amount of time spent at that speed. This is more for one on one, one on two, not one on five, six, ten etc.

Physical Armor Creation - Limits: You cannot always be in armor. The armor does not last long. During the lower level it may only hand one or two major hits before breaking. You cannot continuously make armor after it breaks, breakage does hurt and you do loose energy. Max Potential/Limits: The armor can last through more hits. It is not completely impenetrable but depending on how much energy you put in the longer it lasts. It still hurts when it breaks but the pain is smaller and the amount of energy lost is less.

Duplication - Limits: You can only make one. It is imperfect. It will work at a distance but up close you can see it's not real. You cannot be far away from the duplicate. The further it goes from you the less stable it is. At this state the range is no more than a few yards to possibly a mile. Max Potential/Limits: You can make several duplicates, they can be somewhat strong. You're range from them can be further, two miles at most.

Your Choice for Mental Power

Post  SugaredKittie on Thu Jun 16, 2011 6:51 pm

Mental Abilities and Powers

TelepathyLimits: Minor telepathic illusions that last 15 to 30 seconds (a minute is amazing and rare at this stage). Weak psionic blasts (if you don’t know what that is it’s the ability to send a psychic blasy of energy to cause immense pain, lack of consciousness, memory loss and possibly even death. You don’t get all of these.) Weak psionic blasts include, some amount of pain, momentary lack of consciousness, a momentary stumbling in movement Max Potential/Limits: Longer lasting telepathic illusions (may last up to 10 minutes. A short time frame due to the number of minds you need to effect) and stronger psionic blasts (large to crippling amounts of pain depending on how many targets, lack of consciousness for 2 to 5 minutes).

Telekinesis UNAVILABLE (S)- Limits: Able to lift some lighter weight objects for short amount of time and toss them a certain distance. Max Potential/Limits: Able to pick up large objects (trees and boulders, possible humans) and throw them (the heavier it Is the less distance it will go). Also some minor levitation of self.

Technopathy UNAVILABLE (J) - Limits: Can hear technology at a small distance when applying oneself to listening for them. Can animate and control small pieces of technology if they are close by; limited time. Max Potential/Limits: Can hear technology from a greater distance when applying oneself to listen for them. Can also animate and control slightly larger pieces of technology for longer periods.

Magnetism - Limits: Can create and manipulate small magnetic fields. (good for hunting for scrap metal to build weapons). While using the fields there is a possibility to throw a singular object like a projectile. Cannot hold the fields open for long periods of time. Max Potential/Limits: Can create large fields that can lift more or heavier pieces of metal. These objects can be thrown a certain distance (Mass + velocity mostly. The larger the object the harder it is to throw). Cannot hold the fields open for long periods of time.

Force Fields UNAVAILABLE (K) - Limits: THIS IS EXACTLY LIKE THE PHYSICAL ARMOR. I’m just tired and do not want to repeat. The field can cover one other person occasionally. Max Potential/Limits: Can cover 2 to 5, length of shield goes down the larger it covers. (SAME AS ARMOR HERE TOO)

Projection - Limits: Cannot move while projecting. SIMILAR TO DUPLICATION. Max Potential/Limits: Still cannot move while projecting but can be carried. SIMILAR TO DUPLICATION (you can only make ONE projection though)

Animal Communication UNAVAILABLE (K) - Limits: Occasionally can hear and speak to an animal. Good for learning about hiding places Max Potential/Limits: Can frequently hear and speak to an animal. Occasionally can have an animal fight with you (this is not an guarantee)

Sensory Limitation/Elimination UNAVAILABLE (J) - Limits: Can create a small area of effect around you and others huddled close to you that limits the senses of an enemy. The enemy will feel as if they have cotton in their ears or their eyes are tired or their hands are numb. Cannot hold this for long periods Max Potential/Limits: Large area of effect. Rare chances to completely eliminate ONE sense for the enemy (no sight or no sound). Can hold this for longer, good use for escape.

Tactical Precognition UNAVAILABLE (C) - Limits: Does not always work. Can only hear from one person. Will not get everything. Max Potential/Limits: Can only hear from one person. Can retrieve some battle plans (only the ones they are using at that time).

Gravitokinesis - Limits: Can create less or more gravity on a single target outside of yourself (you cannot crush someone to death nor send them to outer space with it) This does not last long. Max Potential/Limits: Large area of effect (can effect multiple targets) SAME LIMITATIONS.

Shadow Manipulation UNAVAILABLE (D) - Limits: Can use shadows to attack. They are usually not strong enough to kill at this point, just wound or slow down (like walking in sludge). Have to be able to see the shadow you are using (you CANNOT use the shadows as transportation) Max Potential/Limits: Can use for attacks, possible death attacks. Have to be able to see enemy and know where the shadow would be at this time of day. CANNOT USE FOR TRANSPORTATION

Psychic creation of weapons UNAVAILABLE (B) - Limits: Cannot create weapons for everyone. Cannot create large deadly weapons (you will most likely create a sword or a pistol). Max Potential/Limits: The large the weapon the more energy it takes to create and sustain. Cannot create things that leave your possession (possession means in your hands. They do not go past that.)

The Dual Abilities

Post  SugaredKittie on Thu Jun 16, 2011 7:01 pm

The Powers/Abilities that covers both Mental and Physical

Mimicry - Limits: Can copy someone's power or skills (this works both on others with powers or the military people) for a limited amount of time (you do not keep power) The Max is exactly the same but the time limit is extended.

Photokinesis UNAVAILABLE (M) - Limit: Can sustain self (like photosynthesis) without food for a limited amount of time. Can refract light to make oneself invisible for a short time Can store absorbed light for later use (storage is maybe 30 minutes). Max Potential/Limits: Can reflect absorbed light as a beam (burning and possibly killing the target). Can store light energy for longer (an hour or two) to generated heat within self.. Can refract light on more than one person for about 30 minutes (best for escaping)

Power Augmentation - Limits: Can augment only if touching. Cannot Use on elemental people (Earth, fire, wind water wood). Augmentation does not last forever. Max Potential/Limits: Still cannot use on elemental. Can augment for longer (this would be good for the sensory limitation/elimination person as they will have a better chance to eliminate a sense). Still have to touch the person but the augment takes less concentration Can only double the power for limited time.

Re: The Most Dangerous Game

Post  SugaredKittie on Thu Jun 30, 2011 9:58 pm

Everyone wandered around, trying to figure out what they were suppose to do now. A few people wanted to know what they were suppose to do, some went looking to see if there was anything to find. The sun was just hitting it's peak, noon was arriving and there was no food, no shelter; people were starting to get angry. They were hungry and hot. It was extremely warm for mid December and no one could understand why. People were getting snappy and powers were suddenly ranging out of control. Without some sense of rules people were going to die and fast.

Fola looked around, hands on her hips, as she assessed the situation. If someone didn't get a handle on things now a lot of people were going to die because no one knew how to use their powers; in fact many didn't even seem to be showing powers and if they were they didn't know what they had. She remembered one of hers, she had wind, and had tried it once or twice before they found her and took her away to the camp. She wondered if she could use it now. She pursed her lips and tried to focus on the light breeze that brushed past her.

Suddenly the wind just kicked up and a strong force pushed through the group knocking people over or even lifting them up off the ground for a moment. Panic set in and Fola freaked.

"Sorry!!" She cried, her voice nearly being drowned out. "I'm sorry I'm sorry!! I was just trying to get your attention!!!"

People turned to look at her as she tried hard to stop the forceful wind; suddenly it stopped altogether. People murmured quietly while Fola blushed heavily. "Well..." She muttered, her accent making it hard to understand her. "I think we need to plan how we're going to live here. Obviously no one has been in this city for a long, long time... Maybe some of you who have gone out looking know if there's any food maybe if there's some animal life in the trees just outside the city? Or maybe there's a place to fish? Does anyone even know how to fish or hunt? Maybe someone knows what to look for for wild fruit or mushrooms or something? Maybe we can split up into smaller groups so it's easier to feed everyone."

Fola blushed again as she realized everyone was staring at her. "I mean... this is all just ideas..." She muttered before she ducked her head.

Seein how nervous and embarassed she was Xia went by her side feeling really warm.
"I agree we need to spit into small groups to see what we have around here. You take one group and I will take another. We should probably get another group or two who wants to be the lead."
Xia staired into the crowd looking for someone to stand up and take the responsibility.

Fola pursed her lips for a moment. "No, I was kinda thinking that this little section here," she waved her arm to indicate the roughly 20 people around them, "would be one group. Ya know, proximity makes one group. There's enough where we could probably split into like three or four of similar size."

In the back of all the people stood a man leaning against a tree wearing black clothing that were tattered, but his most discernible feature was his purple hair and his purple eyes. As the wind kicked up it shoved his from the tree he was leaning against. He glared at the girl who was apologizing for what she had just done. He just stood in the back not saying a word as he was not prompted to and was not wanting to. Though he was in the back he had a clear line of site to Fola and the other woman who was talking as well.

Re: The Most Dangerous Game

Post  Poisyn on Thu Jun 30, 2011 10:59 pm

Ashlyn picked herself off the ground and brushed the dirt from her clothes as best she could. It looked like someone was taking charge.
"Lyn!" The brunette turned to look at the blond, older man that approached her. He had with him his oldest daughter, Avalynn.
"Hullo Mr. Destin!" Even though she had been away from Ireland for 12 years, she still had a bit of the accent. "Hullo Ava." She looked around for the smallest member of Destin's clan.
Destin's smile fell when he saw her looking around as well. "So you don't know where Maria is either?" He paused as he thought. "Could you look after Ava for me while I look for her?"
"Of course, of course..." Her 'r's were retroflexed as she spoke.
Ava opened her mouth to protest about having a baby sitter but a look from Lyn cut her off. "Now is not the time to complain, okay." She looked back up at Destin. "We'll stay close to this group, alright?"
He nodded before continuing his quest. It wasn't long before Lyn was approached by another parent looking for a lost child. And another parent. And another. It got to be that she would see a parent she used to babysit for coming toward her and she would shake her head.
Meanwhile, she herself had someone to find. There were some children in the camps that wouldn't have parents looking for them.
Finally, she found one of these children.
"Adilah!" She called to the younger girl. "Come, join the A-Team!"

Adilah blinked large round eyes, her head tilted to one side as she looked at Ashlyn without actually seeing her at first. It took a long moment then recognition flashed across her face and she smiled. "Lyn!" She cried like a happy five year old before she ran over to the girl in question. "Do you hear them to Lyn?" She asked, her head not tilted to the other side, her long hair blowing around her becoming tangled. "I hear them, do you?"

Freeman laughed at her, "I have no issue with what you are doing, I just don't like being knocked over by a gust of wind form no where, but other than that you are just peachy." He would roll his eyes and then close them taking a deep breath. As he did so he suddenly heard everyone around him breathing some heavily some lightly. Finally after a few moment he yelled, "PLEASE EVERYONE STOP BREATHING SO HARD!"

Ava held back as they were approached by the girl slightly older than her. Adilah had always been weird but this was up to 11.

Lyn, on the other hand, breezed over it. "No, I don't hear them." She held out her hand for Adilah to take. "Who do you hear? Are you hearing things like that guy?" She pointed to Freeman. "Or do you hear the weefolk?"
She sighed as she saw Adilah's hair. "Would you like me to braid it, Cuttie?" She wasn't referring to Adilah's looks, but to her gender and age. Cuttie in Ireland meant 'young girl'.

"I hear them! They're scared and confused. There's big walls EVERYWHERE!! Big walls with big metal things on top of them. The metal things MOVE like they're alive and looking for stuff. They're scared they're scared, they don't know what to do!!" Adilah was looking quite upset by what she seemed to be hearing but of course she couldn't quite voice was she was feeling. Sparks caught the dead leaves around her feet that had been blown near by the earlier wind storm, they were catching fire as their flames began to lick at the edge of her dress.

"They don't know what to do Lyn they don't know what to do about the weird metal things and the wall."

Lyn pushed Ava behind herself and away from Adilah.
"Adilah." Lyn spoke calmly and clearly as she started to pat out the small fires. "They'll figure out what they need to do on their own. We- You and I and the others here need to figure out how to deal with this. Okay?"
Lyn had taken care of a lot of kids, sometimes 20 or more at once. Her job in the camp was to take care of the children and that meant that she had to have nerves of steel when they did something dangerous.

Fola sighed and tried to figure something out. "Well, we can group this little section here together and try to make a way for us to survive. I think it'll be easier if we make small groups and move off to different areas to find out what's here. This city seems huge and maybe there's a large surrounding... country side? I don't know where we even are it doesn't look familiar but I would have to say we're below the equator. This is what it was like back home in South Africa in December. So maybe we should pull everyone together for our group and head off to try and find a suitable sleeping place closer to the tree line so we can look for food."

Adilah's eyes widened as she suddenly looked around, spinning in circles as she did. "I don't hear them anymore. I don't hear them. Did they go away? Why can't I hear them?"

Adilah stopped and stared for a long moment. "What are they doing?" She asked as she pointed over at Fola and Freeman. "They look like they need help, we should help them Lyn."

Lyn sighed. Apparently Adilah didn't realize she started the fires and possibly didn't even realize there was any.
She took a couple calming breaths while she collected Ava and called to Adilah again. "Cuttie! Come here and hold my hand, okay?"

"Wait, we're taking her-?" Ava was not happy with this idea at all.

"Yes." Lyn's tone left no room for argument. "The closer she is to us, the easier it will be to put out all errant fires."

Adilah smiled as she took Lyn's hand. "Is this like a game? Are we all playing a game together now? Why aren't we at home? Is this the place we play the game? It looks so old and scary, why would we play in such a weird place...?"

Freeman walked up to Fola and smiled and nodded, "Sounds good, but you know you can't count on anyone's powers at the moment we are all still relatively new at this." As he said that he walked passed Fola he smacked her butt and kept walking thinking nothing of it.
